I work in oils, dry pastel, charcoal, and pencil, but this show is primarily of charcoal drawings. Charcoal is my favorite medium. It has an immediacy and flexibility that allows me to dig in physically with hands, fingers, and erasers. Nature is my inspiration, but with charcoal, the medium becomes an important part of the subject. My time in the studio combines careful study, experimentation, and delight in serendipity.
